As physiotherapists, we incorporate the Stimpod as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, combining it with:
- Manual Therapy to address soft tissue restrictions.
- Neural Gliding Exercises to enhance nerve mobility.
- Biomechanical Assessments to identify contributing movement patterns.
- Strength and Mobility Work to prevent recurrence.
- Stimpod Application nerve stimulation for 10-20 minutes.
Neural pain can be a limiting factor in a runner’s performance and overall enjoyment of the sport. The Stimpod offers a promising solution by reducing pain, improving nerve function, and enhancing recovery. When combined with a well-rounded physiotherapy approach, it can be an invaluable tool in keeping runners on their feet, pain-free and performing at their best.
This is what one of our Athlete’s had to say: “My introduction to Stimpod treatment started in early 2025. After severe Hamstring and tendon injuries on both legs at the end of 2024, with 3 months of focused rehab with no runnding. Stimpod was suggested as an option to assist with recovery and relieve the pain. To date I have had 6 treatments, and the difference was felt after the first few sessions. The stabbing pain is under control and being able to take on the bigger training load for Oceans and Comrades has been possible. Under the guidance and support from the Free Motion Physio team, I will be lining up to do my qualifying marathon on the 1st of March. I will continue doing treatment alongside the rehab programme to ensure a full recovery. “
Many of our athletes have reported improvements in flexibility and range after treatment of the nerves with Stimpod, so if you are struggling with nerve-related discomfort and traditional treatments haven’t provided relief, Stimpod therapy may be worth exploring.
